What would happen if Saudi oil ran dry?

Nothing good for the existing Saudi-Arabian elite, that is for sure. Interestingly for those of us who like history and watch world politics, the fate of the Middle-East and perhaps the entire world may have been significantly changed when they found those vast amounts of oil in Saudi Arabia. Within two decades, the Saudis will probably not be exporting any quantity near todays. Additionally, the most widely quoted figure for when the Saudis get problems with civil unrest is between $80 and $100 oil. At that point, they cannot afford the welfare spending that keeps the miserable population in check (the women, of course, are more or less at slave status, so no one cares about them).

If there is one single thing that makes me wish the Saudi regime be damned all the way to hell, then back, then to hell again it is how they treat women. The MOST FUNDAMENTAL aspect of civilization, especially Western such (no matter how much the left hates it) is to treat women with respect. The Saudi men, in this respect, deserve to spend eternity in some sulfur-mine a thousand feet below ground. So yeah, let’s just say that my heart is beating with expectation for the day the Saudi oil is running dry, and this dispicable influence on the world loses its power. Perhaps then, Saudi women can spend more than a few minutes per day not looking through a half-inch hole in their veils, politely agreed to by their husbands.

Here’s Takis take.
